...he said, “Ah, you’re back to normal!” And I didn’t know that I was ever not normal.

It’s all new

Well, here we are. New site, new name, new look, it’s all new new new …. except for me. I’m still the same, just not so pink. Don’t get me wrong, I love pink. But sometimes pink gets a little tiring, and I want the opposite of pink. Which is green. I don’t know if it’s really green, but for today it is.

What’s up with the new name? Well, the Green Sheet was something that I grew up with. It was a section of the newspaper that was all for me. Not me personally, but it was the section that I grabbed first. The pages were a light minty green, hence the name Green Sheet. I wonder what came first, the green paper then the name, or the name and then the green paper? (you can read more about this is the What is? section)

I read the comics, checked out what was going to be on tv, did the crossword puzzle, sometimes the word jumble, read Dr. Abby, and occassionally looked at my horoscope. I don’t believe in that anymore, and while I am a Gemini, I doubt the little blurb in the newspaper is a good forecast for what my day will be like. My day can change instantly depending on anything and everything. Running out of cream for my coffee can be devastating!

Do I like the new name of my blog? Last week I did, I think there was a day in there where I thought it was brilliant (as most of my ideas are when I first come up with them), but now, I don’t really know. But, it’s been 14 months since I wrote my novel, and I’m still not sure about the title of that so I’m not going to worry about this too much. I never was a big fan of the name Thoughts Outside My Head either –  it was a name that didn’t make too much sense literally, but sort of did conceptually.

In general, how much thought do people put into what they call their blogs? I’ve found that it’s tough to come up with something that fresh, witty and is meaningful to me (the writer). You’d never know I was so indecisive, honestly. (Although if I hear I laugh coming out of my mom’s office when she reads this then I guess I am indecisive on a regular basis.)

What do I like about my new place so far? I like that I can put things in categories. And I like that I can change the template if I feel like it. And I like that I can change the image at the top on a whim too. In the end, it’s all about moving around my virtual furniture. While you are here I’d appreciate if you wouldn’t put your feet on the coffee table….

Green Sheet

When it’s time for change, you’ve got to rearrange! (more on that later)

Federer just won the Australian Open, AGAIN! No offense Rog, but don’t you think it’s time to let someone else win for a change? I can’t wait for Roland Garros in May so that I can see not you take home the trophy.

Did you watch the women’s final? I can’t believe the comeback that Serena had this tournament!

Yesterday Zoe went rock climbing at REI. They have free rock climbing for kids on Saturdays for a few hours, and she really really really wanted to do it. She made it half way up the wall, then came down. She’s ready to try it again next weekend already. On Wednesdays they have free climbing for the grown-ups. Gosh I hope I can make it further up the wall then my 5 year old.

I went to see Volver last night, it was either than or go to the wine bar with Freckles. I really wanted to go to the wine bar, but Volver is on my Oscar list of movies that I need to see before I the awards show in February and I was wearing Adidas track pants and my Mickey Mouse t-shirt, so I chose to see the movie. I loved it! Go see it, go see it now, bring your glasses though because it has sub-titles. You aren’t afraid of ghosts, are you?

Tuesday is my last class in stats. I can’t wait!!! Next up is five weeks of microeconomics.

It’s time for a change, and I’m moving to Wordpress soon. I’m not sure when but probably in the next few weeks. I’m a rearranger, and Wordpress will give me the option to move stuff around in the morning, and then change it back by the time I go to bed because I liked it better the way it was. If you’ve ever seen me move around my furniture you know what I’m talkin’ about.

Princess sleeping bag

Last night I had grad school, which is from 6-10 p.m. When I got home I found Zoe sleeping in my spot in my bed, but on the floor next to my side of the bed was her Disney princess sleeping bag (which is about 4′ long, perfect for a kid). I went over to my husband’s side of the bed and whispered to him: “Who is the sleeping bag for?”

His reply: “You.”

He went on to explain that it was totally Zoe’s idea that I sleep in the sleeping bag …. as thoughtful as it was, and definitely cute, I opted to sleep in her bed instead.

I’m more of fair weathered runner

It was the Samson Stomp on Sunday. I had planned to run, I really don’t know why because I prefer to run when it’s warm out, or on my treadmill with the tv on in front of me. I really don’t like running in the snow, or the cold, or when it’s snowing AND it’s cold.

My husband? He ran without me. That’s okay. Zoe and I cheered him on at mile #2 and then when he crossed the finish line.

It wasn’t his best time, but he finished before I would have — especially considering the snow, and the cold.

Here he is, #680 (in the red jacket), smiling for the camera. Check out those gigantic snowflakes!!!! Doesn’t it look like he’s inside of a snow globe?

I was number 679, in case you’re were wondering. You weren’t? Well that’s odd…..

Kiddy cocktails

The dinner party on Friday night was very nice. Although I’m in my 30’s, most the other business owners are near retirement. Not too many people wanted to come over and sit at the kiddy table with our group who included myself, my husband, my brother, his wife, a shop owner, her husband, and a new couple we had just met. One of the seasoned owner’s came over for a while, but quickly shuffled off ….. “everyone knows this is the younger table,” she said. Once she had a few drinks in her, and the lights went down when the dancing started, she came back. What can I say, we may be young, but we’re a lot more fun than some of those old folks who were up past their bedtime.

We usually have gambling (pretend of course) at this event, but this year someone decided that a hypnotist would be a good idea.

Note to everyone: a hypnotist is never a good idea.

They started out with about 20 people on stage, half got up and left when they clearly realized they weren’t going under. 10 remained, including 2 people from my table. The hypnotist was starting to sweat because it wasn’t going so well.

“Now there are bugs flying all around you, go ahead, swat those flies away.”

Of the 20 hands up there, only two were swatting flies.

“Now the flies are gone, now it’s really hot out, go ahead and fan yourself.”

And so it went. He’d make a suggestion, and there would be maybe one or two people who were taking the suggestion and doing something with it. Every now and then someone would peek open their eyes, take a look at the crowd, and then shut them again. Were there a few fakers up there? Possibly.

As I said, a hypnotist is never a good idea.

The night was still good, three out of the four women at my table are wine club members …. it was practically a mini-meeting.

QOTD has moved

Just an FYI that the Question of the Day has moved.
