Wordless Wednesday: Kettle Moraine Forest
Witchy Poo
Check out the attitude on this witch!
It’s trick or treat time!
Tonight is trick or treat for my neighborhood, you can read why I say that Christmas Lights = Halloween Candy in my MenomoneeFallsNOW.com blog. Zoe is going to be a scary witch this year, this is the first year that she’s not a princess. (Amazing!) I hope the weather holds out tonight for the kids, it’s been pretty cold lately.
I’m thinking of ….
Lately during dinner the three of us having been playing the “I’m thinking of something” game, where one person thinks of something, gives clues, and then the other two try to guess.
Zoe is very good at this game, and usually thinks of something rather difficult to guess. Tonight was no exception.
Her clues were: the first word is “A”, the second word starts with an “F”, it’s not here now but was here before we were, and it’s a person.
Let the guessing begin folks! (And boy did we go through the guesses) Friend, farmer, foghorn (this was before we knew it was a person), etc…. until finally my husband guessed family! Which of course made me almost choke on my pasta because she said that it’s not here now but was before we were. My husband picked up on this right away and said to her, “because we aren’t a family … here … now?”
Ah, the logic of a child to think of the family who used to live in our house before we bought it two years ago.
On a different note, my new blog that I’m writing for locally is up and running. You can find it here. There is a link in the side bar as well. Check out our my lastest post, I think he had a secret plan.
Not So Much Wordless Wednesday, on a Tuesday: A not so short walk
Almost two years ago we took Zoe and my nephews to Chicago for the day. We spent it at the Shedd’s Aquarium, and found that we still had time left before our evening train took us back to Milwaukee so I came up with this fantastic plan to walk from Shedd’s Aquarium to Navy Pier. It didn’t look very far.
Looks can be deceiving.
We told the kids it we thought it was only about a 1/4 - 1/2 mile walk. Maybe it would take us 10-15 minutes. Actually, it took about 40 minutes.
Here’s a photo montage from Shedd’s to Navy Pier. In the second photo you can see the lakefront path from Shedd’s, looks pretty easy to walk, doesn’t it? Not too far at all.
In the third photo you can see where Navy Pier is …. behind my husband and Zoe, down the path, beyond the water, and on that long white penninsula in the background. That is Navy Pier. Notice how it’s sooooo far away that you can’t even make out the ferris wheel. (Just an FYI – if any of you went to the BlogHer convention in Chicago this past summer, it was held at Navy Pier.)
Midnight Nonsense
On Friday night I woke up as my husband came to bed, and let me just say this: I have NO BUSINESS talking in the middle of the night. I made ZERO SENSE, and I got frustrated in the process. What did I say? I vaguely remember saying the following to him:
Where is my wife? and Where are our daughter’s parents?
Where is my wife????? I’m the wife! And I think he told me that. But then I got frustrated because I obviously wasn’t finding the right words in my brain to vocalize my nonsensical questions and so I went on to ask where our daughter’s parents were. To which he said: “Well, I’m right here … and you’re right there.”
Thankfully I either didn’t ask a follow-up question, or it was so ridiculously stupid that I’ve blocked it from my memory.
