The Prize Box
A couple weeks ago Zoe presented us with a chart that she had drawn that had all of our names on it: Mom, Zoe, and Dad. Below the names were columns and grids — she had created a Good Behavior Chart, and every night before she went to bed she carried a huge cup of markers and stickers around to both of us and if she determined that we had been good, then she would reward us with either a marker stamp, or a sticker on the grid below our names.
One night my husband was ranting a bit about not being able to buy a book. I think he said something to effect of, ‘I can’t buy this freaking book!’ Of course, when it came time to fill out the Good Behavior Chart he didn’t get a mark, and she told him exactly why too. He turned it around the next day though. ![]()
During her free time she filled a shoe box full of pictures she had drawn, and various other small trinket items from around the house (specifically her bedroom), this became the Prize Box. After 10 good behavior days, we’d get to pick something from the prize box.
On Sunday night, I was able to choose my prize, a small watercolor picture of five butterflies, which she painted herself.

What I’ve been watching
The last two weekends we spent at the movies. We saw Fred Claus, which I had low expectations for but in reality I loved this movie! Will it be a Christmas classic? Who knows, but it was very entertaining and had a good message to give.
The other movie we saw was Enchanted. Wow! We tried to go on Friday, but it was sold out. So we came back on Saturday, were early (not by much though), and the theater was PACKED! We had to sit in the third row, but it was worth it. The movie was, of course, making fun of the Disney princess movies, but I loved it! Giselle made a dress out of the curtains in McDreamy’s living room. That was so funny!
He’s like, Where did you get that dress? Why does it look familiar?
From Netflix I watched Mystic River, which was so much better than I had expected it to be. I ignored this movie when it was up for an Oscar, why? I don’t know. If you’ll recall, I ignored The Pursuit of Happyness too. Anyhow, Mystic was very good, Sean Penn was amazing, and I seriously thought (SPOILER!),along with the rest of the characters, that Dave had killed that girl. Didn’t you?
For no reason other than pure curiosity, I got Weeds from Netflix too. I don’t have Showtime and had only briefly seen a few minutes of this show before this weekend. My husband and I watched the pilot on Friday night, then on Sunday morning we watched the next five episodes. Thankfully disc 2 of season 1 AND disk 1 of season 2 are arriving tomorrow from Netflix! Don’t tell me what happens!!! I love this show! I’ve never watched an entire season of a show like this before. It’s not so bad.
Obsessions
I am obsessed with the following:
1. Vacuuming, but most everyone already knew that about me.
2. Flossing my teeth. Yes, I even have dental floss in my desk at work, and I’m not afraid to pull it out of my purse at the movie theater either.
3. Making sure that my tire isn’t flat. I think I’ve put air in my tire at least three times this week. I feel my tire every time I get in my car, and if feels wrong, I put in more air.
(I know there is a 4th one, but for the life of me I can’t remember it.)

Shaken, not stirred, and with a crayon
Zoe and I went out for pizza on Saturday night at Pizzeria Piccola. If you live in the Milwaukee area, I highly recommend giving Piccola a try.
The routine is that we place our order, then Zoe picks out crayons to color with, I grab the free newspaper to read (usually MKE or The Shepherd’s Express) and then we go find a place to sit. On this night, Zoe asked for a cup to put her crayons in, and they lady handed her a clear plastic cup. This kind of cup is also what they serve water in, which is what I was drinking. So we sit down, she beings to color. I read. Then she decides that I should color a little bit. So I do. Then our pizza comes and I take the yellow crayon and put in the crayon cup.
I eat pizza. I drink water. I eat pizza. I drink water. Something in the water bumps my mouth. I look in the water.
It’s the yellow crayon. IN MY WATER.
THAT I’VE BEEN DRINKING!!!!
That’s so gross.
