Wordless Wednesday: Big Truck, Little Truck

Because who knows when you might need to use the big truck?
And when you might need to use the little truck?

Green Paper Bags
My husband has been hounding me for years now to make the switch from plastic bags to paper bags. I’ve always preferred plastic, due to the handles of course. However, the whole “green movement” hit me over the head last weekend and I’ve found myself balking at the thought of plastic. It’s like it has cooties or something. Plastic bag? Do I look like someone who uses a plastic bag? You offer me plastic and I’ve never been more insulted in my whole life. And the thing is, I don’t know why all of a sudden this is important to me. Why now?
Why not now? It’s not too late to make a difference. And even if it’s a small difference, and even it’s only me, I can feel proud of myself for being greener than I was before.
However, with this comes that. And that is like a big can of worms that is too squirmy to handle. Where does that begin? Where does it lead to? And where does it end? So far it’s leading to subscribing to The Green Guide, which is put out by National Geographic. It’s also leading me to scrutinize the ingredients in the products that my family uses.
Let me ask you this: How green are you?

Arizona, you can thank me
Yesterday I spent a great deal of my day making sure that a super hot part was shipped for my customer. They needed it fast, like Saturday delivery fast, and of course, they are in the Middle-of-Nowhere, Arizona.
UPS didn’t offer Saturday service, nor did regular Fed Ex. However Fed Ex Custom Critical would get it there by Sunday afternoon, which was better than nothing. To me this part looked like a really big fifty pound metal peg, to Arizona it was a crucial part to a power plant. POWER PLANT. As in, ELECTRICITY.
So, Arizona, you can thank me, and guy in the in the white Fed Ex truck who is hand delivering your part, because if he wouldn’t have been able to do it, my next option was to charter a jet. CHARTER. A. JET.
And there are days that I don’t feel like my job is all that important. Not yesterday.
Pretty soon I’ll lose an appendage for sure
Three weeks ago I got a cardboard cut on my hand while opening my daughter’s birthday cake box. It was on that fleshy part right between my thumb and my pointer finger. I think I had to wear a bandaid on it for at least a week so that it wouldn’t break open and start bleeding again.
Then last week I was slicing Zoe’s bagel and nearly took the top of my ring finger off in the process. Have you ever tried to wear a bandaid on the tip of your finger? It’s rather difficult.
And then last night happened. I was opening a bottle of wine with one of those corkscrews that has the arms that rotate up as you screw it into the cork, then you push the arms down and the cork comes out. Well, my knuckle on my pointer finger got pinched in the cog as I pushed down on the arms, resulting in a very painful and very large blood blister, and I’m sure there’s a bruise there too.
Three weeks, three injuries, what’ll happen next? Maybe I should start wearing mittens.
Wordless Wednesday: Keeping Watch
Laugh if you want to, but I can’t for the life of me get an image into my post in the new 2.5 version of Wordpress. Can you? I can upload it, but I can’t choose it. So, I’ve got a great photo, but you’ll just have to close your eyes and imagine what it looks like. Or you could help me. Tech Support? Are you out there?
That Stupid Screen Door
I’ve totally broke our stupid screen door and I’m not very happy about it. Hardware Hank from the hardware store told me it was a piece of cake to take the screen door off the tracks so that I could bring it for screen repair. He was wrong. The door is totally jammed, kinda off it’s track, and the screen is still broken (however it does sport a lovely 12″x12″ patch made out of duct tape).
What to do? What to do?
