I knew I wanted to get out for a trail run this weekend, so when this morning came around I planned a trip out to Lapham Peak. My original plan was to run two loops of the purple trail because I had Josie with me.
Well, trying to keep track of which color trail you are on is kinda like trying to put together that stupid fake Christmas tree from my childhood. After awhile the purple, blue and black all start to look the same and you can’t remember which one your plan was. Was it the blue trail? Or did I mean the black trail? I dunno…….
I think we should go that way ….
As it turned out we were on the black trail and let me tell you this, the black trail has a wormhole effect and no matter what it seems like you are ALWAYS at the bottom of the hill. We finally found our way to the connector trail and took that to the steps to the observation tower.
We went up the steps and visited the bubbler, sat down and took a break, and then when it was time to head back down the steps to get to the purple trail Josie flat out refused. So we took the road back to the parking lot. Silly big dog.
Being on the trails wiped her out good though. This is how she’s looked for the rest of day.
I’m tired too, but I really enjoy being on the trails. It’s so pretty! And there’s something about being on the trails that makes speed not be a priority. Super slow? No problem! Was it fun? Yup. I’m so glad I chose the half marathon distance for The North Face Endurance Challenge, it’s going to be a blast!
