BlogHer Book Club: Here I Go Again

The latest book for the BlogHer Book Club is Here I Go Again by Jen Lancaster. I didn’t know what to expect with this book, it was the first time I’ve read anything by Jen Lancaster, and honestly practically every book I’ve read lately has been disappointing. I am here to tell you that this book did not disappoint! I LOVED IT! The premise (in my own words) is that Lissy Ryder is a suck-up, high maintenance, 37 year old brat who has been fired from her job and left by her husband. She decides to attend her 20 year high school reunion in order to make a big comeback professionally (she works in public relations) … only to find out that she’s no longer the Queen Bee and her classmates have quite a mouthful for her. Except for one classmate, who takes her under her wing and through a Mayan potion, which Lissy downs BTW, she is transferred back to her 17 year old self and tries to right all of her high school wrongs.

I loved the transformation that Lissy made throughout the book. This book started out hilarious and witty, which captured my attention right away, but the story kept me turning page after page. I can’t recommend this book enough. Honestly, I can’t! READ IT! If you love (as I do) any of the grown-ups going back to high school movies like Never Been Kissed, 17 Again, or even 13 Going on 30 (which is the other way around), my best guess is that you’ll love this book too.

If you would like to join the BlogHer Book Club conversation about Here I Go Again. you can do so here: Which songs transport you back to your teen years? You don’t need to have read the book in order to participate. The moderator does an excellent job of picking out interesting parts of the book and then discussing how it relates to your life.

You can find Jen Lancaster on twitterFacebook, or on her blog Jennsylvania.

Note: I was compensated for this review for BlogHer Book Club but the opinions expressed are my own. AND I LOVED THIS BOOK!!!! (As if you needed to be reminded, you know … one more time.)
