Running Shoe Conundrum

What? Were you looking for Mr. Potato Head??? Don’t you fret. I promise, he’ll be back tomorrow with a fantastic adventure.

I’ve got a few running events coming up and the countdown is: Four weeks until Ragnar Chicago, five weeks until the Rock n Sole half marathon. You might be wondering where my training at? Well, my longest run so far is 8 miles and I felt good. It seems as if my last minute training plan is coming together. Sweet!

There’s a small problem though, my running shoes. Remember when I said I ordered new running shoes? And how I seem to have the most popular shoe size on the planet Earth? Well, I am here to tell you that it’s absolutely true because Nike is 100% (I’d have dramatized that to 110% if I was on Celebrity Apprentice) out of stock of their magical Nike Pegasus in 8.5 wide.

Oh, they aren’t discontinuing the shoe — which is what I first thought when I received the phone call. That would have been a four alarm crisis. However, they are out of stock until the new release date: July 1st.

I have an MBA folks. I know that July 1st comes AFTER Ragnar Chicago AND the Rock n Sole half marathon. I am now in what will be forever known as: The Running Shoe Conundrum. My options are to try something new, suck it up with old shoes, or wear a different old shoe that I have but am not a huge fan of.

Why do running shoes have to be so conundrumical??
