I am a huge fan of the movies, and thankfully I married a movie goer. I don’t know how his childhood was, but mine was spent at the movies, often. When we first were married, we went to the movies a few times a week. It was usually the 9pm movie, which now we don’t dare go to because that’s just way too late for us, even the 7pm show is sometimes too late. Boy, have times changed.
Now that we have a 12 year old, she’s old enough to see a lot of the movies we’ve enjoyed through the years. We have Netflix and by the end of summer we had plowed through all of the new movies we hadn’t seen in the theaters. So now, we are in a Friday night movie watching groove that my daughter has named: Tom Hanks Friday.
Sidenote: Remember the time I met Tom Hanks??
It didn’t start out to be all Tom Hanks movies, but after a certain point my daughter said: THIS IS ANOTHER TOM HANKS MOVIE??? And while it was, we weren’t picking them on purpose, but now we are. Hanks has been is SO MANY good movies, a lot of them she’s watched already, but now we are working our way through the majority of them on Fridays.
Here’s what we’ve already watched: Splash, Forrest Gump, Catch Me If You Can, The Terminal, The Burbs, Apollo 13, You’ve Got Mail, Turner and Hooch.
We’ve also watched a few non-Tom Hanks movies: Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, Dumb and Dumber, World War Z, Hidalgo, Meatballs, My Blue Heaven, The Sixth Sense (that stinker, she figured out he was dead within 10 minutes of the movie starting!), The Kid, The Fugitive.
Can you guess what movie is this Friday? It stars Tom Hanks, and I’ll give you a second clue: it does not have Meg Ryan in it.
P.S. I’m going to assume it goes without saying that we’ve watched all of the Toy Story movies.
