Yesterday morning I came back to my desk to find a voicemail from an unknown number on my cellphone. When I listened to it I about fell over from shock. It was the Milwaukee Brewers, and they were calling to say that my daughter had been chosen to be a Junior Announcer for an upcoming Brewers game.

What was so shocking about is that I had *just* mailed her entry in at the beginning of the week! Here it was, Thursday morning, and they were already calling to say that she was picked! WOW!

Just then my mom walked past my desk and I told her, and then she informed me that she was going to the game with us. And then I called my husband and was like: YOU ARE NOT GOING TO BELIEVE THE CALL I JUST GOT! And then he was totally excited about it too! And then my mom told my dad, and before I knew it I had to make sure that we could get five tickets for the game rather than four, etc…. And then I Facebooked it, and Twittered it, and beamed with pride that my daughter’s dream would come true.

She is going to be on the jumbotron at Miller Park!

I know, odd dream. I mean we were at the game on Sunday afternoon and my shoulder was tight, so I was making my husband massage my shoulders for me, but then the cameras started showing the crowd on the screen and he was all: I HAVE TO STOP, IF I DON’T I’M GOING TO END UP ON THE JUMBOTRON. And then I had to suffer for the rest of the game with a kink in my shoulder. But hey, it’s her dream …. that, and she’d also like to catch a baseball at the game too. My husband has already told her that he’s been waiting since he was 10 yrs old for that to happen, so she should probably set her bar a little lower.

As you can see, this kid doesn’t do lower, she just does.

(with exception to riding her bike, she’s not too keen on that)

So, what is the Junior Announcer? Well, they have a kid announce the first three Brewers at bat during the 4th inning. It’s pretty cute, and the kids always do a great job of it. Her game is Friday, June 24th, against Minnesota.  She could have had an earlier game, but it would have been a 7:10 p.m. game on a school night …. and that would make for a really long day for a kid.

When I got home from work last night, my husband and I sat her down on the couch and said we needed to have a talk with her. She was scared, she thought she was in trouble. I pulled out my cellphone, turned on the speaker and told her she needed to hear a message that I received. We watched as she listened, and then realized what the message was. Her entire face lit up, and she put her hands up to her mouth to hold in a squeal of delight.

And then she made sure that I had called the Brewers back to say that she would do it.
