    1. I signed up to run a half marathon this Saturday.
    2. I’m not even nervous – yet.
    3. My daughter asked if Josie was going to be a Saint Dane.
    4. Yes, I think she will forever now be a Saint Dane.
    5. Even though she looks absolutely nothing like a Saint Bernard nor a Great Dane.
    6. THANKFULLY!
    7. I’m am practically a master player of Plants vs. Zombies.
    8. Except that I have to actually have possession of MY VERY OWN IPAD in order to play.
    9. The split second I put it down, my kid takes it, and when she doesn’t have it my husband does.
    10. Should a zombie attack our house, we would know what to do.
    11. The zombies wearing buckets on their heads need a triple tap, while those with orange road cones only need a double tap.
    12. Of course, I’m not sure where we’d find all of those attack plants.
    13. Do you think Stein’s carries a peashooter?

    1. I ran 2 miles on Monday.
    2. I ran 6 miles on Wednesday.
    3. I’m supposed to run 16 miles on Saturday.
    4. But here’s the thing, the Badgerland Striders has a build-up run on Saturday morning down at the lake front.
    5. It’s 18 miles.
    6. I think I’m going to give it a try.
    7. The organizer of the run guaranteed me that I’d have fun.
    8. And that there would be a lot of runners in my 13 minute mile pace.
    9. It starts at 7:30 a.m.
    10. 7:30 a.m.
    11. Like in the morning.
    12. Very early.
    13. We’ll see.
  • Thursday Thirteen: Bugs in the Dell with my iPad

    Date: 2010.08.05 | Category: Thursday 13 | Response: 4

    1. The bug man is here to spray my home to get rid of the ants. I finally couldn’t take it anymore. Goodbye ants!
    2. I had to crate the cats inside of the dog crate so they’d be out of the way. Rudy and Jasper were easy, but I had to tackle Olive and skinned my elbow in the process on the carpeting. She is so freaking high maintenance, like the Gabor on Green Acres. Maybe, I’ve never watched the show so I can only assume.
    3. My new Dell laptop is on the way, kinda, there’s a delay because I only had one internal keyboard to choose from and that’s on backorder. ETA is August 19th.
    4. In the meantime it’s just me and my iPad because my old Dell doesn’t have any virus protection and we all know how well *having* virus protection worked out for me, I don’t want to tempt a Trojan without a safety net.
    5. So, the question has been asked how do I use my iPad?
    6. The answer is that I didn’t even like it at first, but now I can’t imagine being without it!
    7. I love the iBook application because I can download a sample of any book for free, which amounts to the first few chapters. I’m using it as my ‘what I want to read’ list. I never thought I’d enjoy reading an electronic book, but I really am. Currently I’m reading Private, and I read the sample of Little Bee — which so far is amazing — but Gov. Jen gave me the real book so I’m going to read it the old fashioned way.
    8. My next favorite app is the NY Times crossword puzzle, which I had to pay for after the two week introductory period ended. They sucked me in! I love doing the crossword puzzle! And actually finishing it every once in a while.
    9. I also can blog right from my iPad using the Wordpress app, it makes it very easy. I wish I had a bold button though, that’s the only thing I’d probably change.
    10. There is a Facebook app, but I prefer to go to Facebook the regular way, which is super easy using the web browser.
    11. Visiting blogs, or at least reading them, is easy to do on my iPad also. I use Google Reader.
    12. I can watch ABC shows on it too, because the folks at ABC made a app for that. I can also stream my Netflix movies from the iPad, anything that’s in my instant queue is available.
    13. Don’t tell my husband this, but I read the USA Today on here all the time.

  • Thursday 13: The pup, my hair, iPad & guts

    Date: 2010.07.01 | Category: Thursday 13 | Response: 2

    1. I have survived 33 days with the puppy.
    2. I think she’s doubled in size.
    3. She has an infinite love for rawhide flip chips.
    4. Last month my hair was really, really short.
    5. This month it’s grown out enough where I could style it like Justin Bieber — if I wanted to.
    6. I am debating if I should do it just to mortify my husband and kid.
    7. I’m not sure my husband knows who Justin Bieber is though.
    8. What I really need is a new hair color.
    9. I’m getting the hang of my iPad, it’s pretty cool.
    10. I love the NY Times Crossword Puzzle app.
    11. That stomach virus I had it still messing with my gut and just about everything I eat or drink makes me feel terrible.
    12. Which means that I have zero energy and am now two weeks behind on training for the Milwaukee Lakefront Marathon.
    13. Let’s hope that I’ll be fully recovered by next Friday for wine club — priorities you know.
  • Thursday 13: My new iPad

    Date: 2010.06.17 | Category: Thursday 13 | Response: 0

    1. My husband gave me an iPad for my birthday.
    2. It’s the 64GB with Wifi, I didn’t want the 3G because I figured I didn’t need to have ANOTHER data plan.
    3. I really wanted the iPad.
    4. And I was beyond giddy that he actually went to the Apple store, picked one out, and bought it for me.
    5. He despises Apple.
    6. And Google too.
    7. I find the iPad’s simplicity to be too complex and I’m highly frustrated by it.
    8. I can’t even remember why I wanted it in the first place.
    9. My daughter has filled it up with Farm Story, Pac-Man, Scoops, Solitaire, reMovem, Tris, Memory Cards, Mahjong Lite, Parking Lot and Radiation.
    10. She’s keeping a very close eye on her lilies, daisies and tulips.
    11. I installed the jumbo calculator, USA Today, ABC Player, and the Netflix app.
    12. I think I’m going to stream Dr. Horrible from Netflix.
    13. Tomorrow I’m going to a class called: “Meet Your New iPad”.
