It was a tough decision, but I knew that if I didn’t make it now then my chances of making it later might not be “officially” available. I’ve had bronchitis before, it sucks, and it takes a lot to fully recover from. Sure, I feel better, but I don’t feel like I did before. I’ve been scouting the discussion boards for the Cellcom Green Bay Marathon looking for a half marathon bib to buy, they go super fast so I was incredibly lucky to get one on Friday night.
Now I can officially run the half marathon, not push myself with the training, recover from bronchitis, and then not come in last on race day. The not coming in last part is important. Yep, still worried about that.
I feel pretty stupid about the whole thing switching event thing, but there was no way to plan for this. Who knew that I would get sick? And of all the sick I could get it would be bronchitis? I thought about still training for the full and seeing how I felt on race day, if I felt good enough I’d go for it, but if not then I’d cut around for the half. However, the marathon FAQs make it pretty clear that that is frowned upon and that while they couldn’t prevent me from doing it, I wouldn’t be listed among the finishers. Well, let’s just say that if I’m running it, I want it to be recorded in the books.
All I need to do now is cross my fingers and hope that I’ll be able to sell my full marathon bib. I’ve had some interest, but no commitment yet. What I find to be frustrating though is that the person who has shown interest is replying with VERY INTERESTED! to a number of people. He emailed me privately within seconds of my post to see if I had sold mine and to say he was interested. I emailed him back immediately! Of course, totally excited that I had a potential buyer so quickly! And then he never responded…. yet he’s still searching the boards for a full bib. VERY INTERESTED! to me means that you are ready to buy, or at least negotiate, and not leave the seller(s) hanging. I finally called him on it, because, well, that’s just how I am. Hey guy, didn’t you get my email that I sent to you last night? It took him a few hours to reply publicly that he’s “shopping around”.
Shopping around?? A quick reply to my email saying that would have been helpful, because in the meantime you look like a troll who is just replying to every full marathon bib that is for sale to get the hopes up of the respective seller. I’d be surprised if he bought my bib now, but cripes, let’s have some common sense when telling sellers that you are VERY INTERESTED!

Bummer. Sorry. Bronchitis takes so long to get over, too. Hope you sell your bib. I didn’t even know that was possible!
