Leggo My Eggo
I’m trying to wrap my head around this article in yesterday’s Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. It was in the business section and it was about Eggo waffles. There’s a shortage.
Seriously.
In. The. Business. Section.
And people are all in a tizzy over the shortage of waffles. The lady that was interviewed said she took one of the last two boxes at her store, and it might be an issue for her daughter, she might have to ration the waffles to a half a waffle at a time.
Again: Seriously?
First of all, I’ve got my addictions and my quirks. Does lip balm ring a bell to anyone? Revlon used to make this lip balm that I couldn’t live without and then you know what they did? They discontinued it. But one of my friends found a ton of them at the dollar store, and so I went to the dollar store and I bought all of them. All 52 tubes of Revlon discontinued lip balm.
One dollar each.
If the Eggo waffles were THAT important to her I don’t see why she’d leave one on the shelf. I’d have bought them both. The early bird gets the Eggo!
And when the Eggo’s run out, well here’s an idea that most probably didn’t think of before: try something else for breakfast. There’s endless options. Cereal, banana bread, muffins, Pop Tarts, french toast, bagels, cold leftover pizza…..
I’d never eat cold leftover pizza for breakfast though. Just so we are clear.
Eventually Eggo will make more waffles and the world will continue to spin. I even found the strength to go on after my 52nd lip balm was gone. Thank God that Burt’s Bees came to my rescue.

There seemed to be plenty of Eggo boxes in our market, except…the kind I wanted (of course). I was looking for the whole grain.
I’m having trouble finding good rye bread and multi-train hamburger buns too. I’m gonna just start eating with my fingers and to h– with the bread.
