Rudy, The Ambassador of All Things Fun
Question: How much trouble can a four pound kitten with a gray stripe on the top of his head get into?
Answer: A lot. When I woke up this morning I heard a lot of commotion going on in my master bathroom. I rolled over to see what was going on, and in the darkness I could barely make out Olive sitting in the corner of the bathroom, but the commotion was all around her. Still laying in bed, I reached up and turned on my reading lamp, this gave off enough light so that I could see that there was toilet paper all over my bathroom floor. And in the middle of that toilet paper was a white tail with a little bit of gray on it.
Rudy.
As usual, Olive vanished into thin air – she’s the kitten that lives with us, but tip toes around the house like a cat burglar and freezes like a statue if you so much as make eye contact with her. Except for the hours of 10-11 p.m. and 4-6 a.m., then she’s all in my face and wants attention.
What I found was Rudy laying underneath the roll of toilet paper. He was busy unrolling what was left and shreading what he’d already pulled down.
I seriously did not think he could do more damage than a roll of shreaded toilet paper.
But I was wrong.
You see the dining room table is where I keep everything that needs to go somewhere else. It’s the gateway to the rest of the house. It’s also where my laptop is.
And sometimes a glass of water.
I walked into the dining room this morning to find Rudy sitting in the middle of a puddle water with a tipped over cup at the end of his paw. The water was quickly enveloping piles of paper that were held up in the gateway. What did I manage to save? It was close , but I pulled out my laptop, Zoe’s school pictures, and our brand-new-just-got-it-from-my-mom-and-had-the-option-of-waiting-until-Christmas-for-it professionally done family portrait.
Holy shit.
She would have killed me if that portrait would have gotten wet.
And then she would have killed cute little Rudy, The Ambassador of All Things Fun.
