One week ago we had nothing better to do so we went up to Home Depot to look at the area rugs. We didn’t buy a rug, but on the way to the cash register (with a lot of light bulbs) I lost my husband. He was there one minute, and the next he was gone. Poof.

So Zoe and I wandered around and ended up by the faucets.

Before I knew it, we were picking out new bathroom faucets. My husband said he’d install them this past Saturday, but then he needed to take Zoe Christmas shopping. This left me in the house with nothing to do.

How hard could installing a bathroom faucet really be?

As you can see, I had a couple helpers. Do you see how Rudy is reading the instructions?

I had small issue at first, I couldn’t freaking crack the bolts underneath old faucet so I could remove it. But then I realized I was trying very hard to tighten the bolts rather than loosen them.

    Oops.

Here is the new faucet, which really wasn’t that big of a deal to install. It was the drain that was a bigger deal.p_2048_1536_7A522C82-5290-4E26-B287-863B05144B99.jpeg

I couldn’t figure out how to unscrew that black thingy. I believe my exact words were: “How in the F am I supposed to unscrew that??”

I obviously needed a bigger wrench, but I couldn’t find one, so I went with Plan B.

I started to unscrew other pipes and worked my way up to the giant black thingy. Within a few minutes I had it completely off.

However then the fun started when I noticed just how gross the drain area was in the overflow area. I mean it was REALLY REALLY GROSS. It was filled with sludge and part of me wanted to just install the drain and forget about it. Out of sight – out of mind. BUT the other side of me was like: Uh, you know it’s there and if you don’t clean it now you will regret it.

Of course the easiest solution would have been to just replace the sink.

    Next time I know.

I honestly didn’t think replacing a faucetĀ  would have been that big of a production.

So I finally got the drain installed and then I noticed this o-ring.

    *!#$&8!!!!*@!

And I seriously wondered if it had an important function.

    Sigh.

Then I took apart the pipes underneath the sink and put the stupid o-ring in.

When I put everything back together I gave the faucet a test — AND IT WORKED! NO LEAKS!

I’m done though. I’m going to sit back and hope that the Faucet Fairy installs the other bathroom faucet.

And the one in the kitchen too.
