Thirteen Things About 2009
Since it’s on the edge of the New Year, I’m writing this at 11:30 p.m. on New Year’s Eve, I thought I list a few highlights from 2009. They are:
- I visited the Wisconsin Capitol for the first time since I was a kid, and I really appreciated it this time.
- I joined a yoga studio and practiced yoga 3-4 times a week for the entire year.
- I re-watched seasons 1 through 4 of LOST, and of course I watched season 5 as it aired.
- Zoe spilled fairy dust ALL OVER her bedroom and I think my head nearly popped off my body at the sight of it.
- There was a small issue with cupcakes.
- I had to stifle it on the elevator.
- We got lost on hike in the Kettle Moraine Forest.
- I turned 40 and had a huge party!
- And I got braces.
- And I burned through the Twilight series in record time.
- Skyler died.
- We went to Denver for Thanksgiving and had a blast!
- I vowed to read all of the issues of National Geographic in 2010, cover to cover.
I’m beginning 2010 with a detox — which means no alcohol, no caffeine, no sugar, no dairy, no meats, no meds. This leaves me with fruit and veggies, tea, perhaps brown rice. The point of it all is to cleanse all of the bad stuff out of my body. A lot of yogis do this cleanse four times a year, some for one week at a time. My goal is to make it to three days, five if I can. We’ll see how it goes.
