What did I say?
Friday night was wine club, and I was among many friends. I know all of them. I’m actually related to one, have lunch regularly with another, a few may not realize this, but yeah, they are the one’s I want to tell all my exciting news to first. Drinking buddies, they are not. Some of my very best friends, they are.
So imagine my surprise as I turn to ask Brenda if she had gone back to work (after taking a few years off to raise her small children) and as she’s talking to me, and I’m talking to her, there is a little voice in my head that is replaying the entire conversation to me and I think I called her Amy. I mean, I’m not sure I did, because there are about 15 ladies surrounding me and Brenda is the only one who is answering my direct question.
Did I call her Amy? I think I said Amy. But Brenda answered me, and she’s still talking to me, and she would have told me if I had called her Amy…… right? Then I must not have called her Amy.
I had just finished working it out with myself — of course coming to the conclusion that I called her Brenda because if I had called her by the wrong name she would pointed it out by now. This is when Kathy blurts outs: “DID YOU JUST CALL HER AMY?”
