Why I Need Satellite Radio

I never thought satellite radio was worth it. Until I spent two days driving to Denver with crap radio, one day in Denver with crap radio, 13 blissful hours in a Ford Flex with Sirius XM Radio, and then two more days driving back to Milwaukee with crap radio. And since WKTI ended, and Laser ended, and WLUM ended, there is NOTHING but crap radio in Milwaukee so those 13 hours of satellite radio really spoiled me. Now I need it. It’s my new quest. I won’t rest until the Sirius XM Radio is mine!

We usually listen to audiobooks in the car during these long rides but no one is interested this time around. Zoe is watching movies on the DVD player, but the noise level in the car is such that we all can’t listen with her.

I’d be fine with some podcasts from my iPhone, however my husband just doesn’t care for them all that much.

So there you have it. Satellite radio. A necessity. Sign me up. We even had it on the top of Piles Peak! And there aren’t any commercials. And it tells what song is on, or if its a sporting event it gives the score. Are you impressed yet?

The 80’s music was pretty good too.

If I have to listen to one more millisecond of country music I’m going to lose it. I’ve heard The Cars, Huey Lewis, and Life Is A Highway more times than I can count.

I’m sure that never happens on XM.

we’ve had XM for a couple of years now, mainly so we can listen to Southeast Conference sports even though we live in the heart of the Big 12. it’s mostly worth it, but like all radio stations there’s a lot of repeat ….

STOP! Before you spend hard-earned pesos on XM, consider this: An adapter for your iPod.

I got Hub XM for Christmas a couple of years ago. He got tired of it. He says there are only a few good stations and they play the same music over and over and over again. So when I got my new-used vehicle earlier this year, and it came with XM, I never subscribed.

HOWEVER, said new vehicle also came with an iPod plug and it ROCKS. Every time I load new music onto my laptop, and sync it with the iPod, I also get new tunes for the car. :o )

For the price if the XM receiver and the subscription, you could totally get an iPod jack for your car.

My husband has had Sirius radio for a while and while it’s better than depending on regular radio on a trip, there is still a lot of repeat as the others have said. I don’t have an iPod, but I use my BlackBerry as a music player, which can be connected to car radio via the auxiliary jack in the same way. That is my choice for travel for the inevitable radio dead zones.
