Holiday Extravaganza
Tonight is my wine club’s 4th Annual Holiday Extravaganza so I decided to look back to see what I had to say about the 2008 wines. NOTHING! I wrote nothing. How can this be? The last time I wrote about the December wines was in 2007, that night we compared expensive wines to the more affordable wines.
Since I didn’t document last years wines at all, I decided to PRE-document this years selection. So, if you are attending wine club tonight I guess this is a heads-up.
Here are a few facts about what was selected:
- Number of bottles: 8
- Whites: 4
- Reds: 4
- Continents represented: 3
- Countries represented: 5
- California: 3
- Italy: 1
- Washington: 1
- Austria: 1
- France: 1
- Argentina: 1
- Most economical (that’s a fancy way to say lowest price): $28.99
- Biggest splurge: $69.99
Here’s what is being served tonight:
- Gaston Chiquet Champagne
- Buty Semillon, Sauvignon and Muscadelle, 2008
- Setzer Riesling, 2007
- Catena Alta Chardonnay, 2006
- Corino Barolo, 2003
- Whitehall Lane Cabernet Sauvignon, 2006
- Talley Estate Pinot Noir, Arroyo Grande Valley, 2005
- Howell Mountain Vineyard Beatty Ranch Zinfandel, 2005
All of the wine were chosen by Ben at Waterford Wine Co., who we rely on each December. Thank you Ben!

My favorite was the Pinot. I need to get me some of that!
